Ben Varvil

Ben Varvil is a seasoned mechanical engineer currently serving as a Sr. Mechanical Engineer in R&D Test Systems at Tesla since August 2024. Prior experience includes a role as a Sr. Mechanical Engineer at CrunchLabs, leading the mechanical engineering for Mark Rober’s Puzzlebot, and at Blue River Technology, where Ben applied computer vision and machine learning to the agricultural sector. Ben's background also features significant experience at Dishcraft Robotics in the design and fabrication of robotic sub-assemblies and a successful tenure at Sir Francis Drake High School as a Nationally Board Certified teacher specializing in engineering design and fabrication. Earlier roles include teaching physics at Envision Schools and sales positions at Keyence and RC Controls, securing solutions in robotics and automation. Ben holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and a Teaching Credential from Dominican University of California.
