Tesla
Chen Li currently serves as a Sr. Manager in Cell Engineering at Tesla, leading a team of approximately 70 in the development of cell materials and manufacturing processes for various cell formats. Prior to Tesla, Chen held multiple roles, including Manager of Cell Engineering and Adjunct Professor at San Jose State University, where responsibilities included curriculum design and instruction in battery technologies and electrochemistry. Previous experience at Zee.Aero involved R&D for Li-ion battery systems for electric aircraft, while a contract position at General Motors focused on postmortem procedures and aging mechanisms for Li-ion batteries. Additionally, Chen completed a postdoctoral position at the University of Bern studying molecular electronics using probe microscope techniques. Chen holds a Ph.D. in Electrochemistry from Research Center Juelich and the University of Bern, along with a Master's in Physical Chemistry and a Bachelor's in Chemistry, both from Xiamen University.
