Derek Carson is an experienced hardware engineer with a background in electrical engineering from the University of Cincinnati. Derek began his career as a Design Engineer Co-op at Advanced Micro Devices from September 2007 to September 2010, focusing on physical high-speed circuit standard cell design and library analysis. After completing a tenure as a Member of Technical Staff at AMD from August 2011 to September 2017, where Derek invented a structured placement framework that significantly improved design automation, Derek joined Tesla in October 2017 as a Staff Autopilot Hardware Engineer. Currently, Derek holds the position of Sr Staff Hardware Engineer at Tesla, continuing to contribute to the advancement of hardware technology.
