Derek Jackson

Derek Jackson is a seasoned professional in the field of PCB design and engineering, currently serving as a Senior PCB Layout Designer at Tesla since November 2025. Prior to this role, Derek worked at Astranis Space Technologies from February 2022 to November 2025 as a Layout Engineer II, focusing on designing and optimizing complex PCB layouts for test boards and satellite applications. With a foundational career that includes significant positions at Altium® as a Product Expert and Specialist, as well as experience with Cadence Design Systems and MicroSim in application engineering, Derek brings over two decades of expertise in electronic design automation (EDA) tools and simulation technologies. Derek's educational background includes a BS in Electronic Engineering from California State University, Fullerton, complemented by certifications in electronic technology.
