Ian Kettle

Ian Kettle is a highly experienced professional in the automotive design industry, currently serving as Senior Exterior Design Manager at Tesla since May 2018. Kettle leads half of the Tesla Exterior Design Team and provides creative design leadership for various future Tesla vehicles. Previous roles include Head of Vehicle Design in China, overseeing design projects for the China Studio while maintaining responsibilities in Los Angeles, as well as significant contributions to iconic projects such as the Tesla Cybertruck and the Tesla Optimus Humanoid Robot. Prior to Tesla, Kettle held senior design roles at Volvo Cars, leading exterior designs for concepts like the 2018 Volvo 360c and the 2020 Volvo Concept TIO, as well as production models including the Volvo XC40. Kettle's academic background includes a Master’s in Vehicle Design from the Royal College of Art and a Bachelor's in Automotive Design from Coventry University.
