Michael Tan is a seasoned automotive engineering director with extensive experience in vehicle exteriors, closures, and lighting systems. They began their career at General Motors as a Product Development Engineer, where they designed and validated exterior lighting systems. From 2006 to 2013, Michael served as an Engineering Manager at Ford Motor Company, leading a team focused on body structures and closure systems. They later joined Tesla in 2020, where they currently hold the title of Director of Engineering, overseeing the development of vehicle exterior and lighting systems from concept to production. Michael is pursuing a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
