Richard Chen

Richard Chen is a Senior Battery Material Engineer currently working at Tesla, where they design and execute projects analyzing battery material properties to enhance product performance. They are completing a PhD at the University of Cambridge, focusing on surface coatings on nickel-rich layered oxide cathodes for lithium-ion batteries. Previously, Richard held various research roles, including at UNSW Australia and The Australian National University, where they conducted significant research in materials science and battery technology. Their educational background includes a Bachelor of Engineering in Materials Science from UNSW, where they graduated with First Class Honours.
