Simar Sawhney

Senior Abuse R&D/Test Engineer

Simar Sawhney is currently a Senior Abuse R&D/Test Engineer at Tesla, where they focus on understanding abuse cases for single cell and pack batteries to enhance safety for passengers and vehicles. Previously, Simar worked as a Battery Safety Intern at NASA, contributing to the development of a modular, non-propagating battery pack and engaging in material testing. They also held positions at QuantumScape, Berkeley Lab, and various research roles at New York University and The Cooper Union, where they honed their skills in battery technology and mechanical engineering. Simar earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Nuclear Engineering and Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley.
