Zheng Chai

Zheng Chai is a Senior R&D Advisor at TETRA Technologies, Inc., specializing in bromine, lithium, and battery electrolyte technologies, as well as oilfield chemicals and water treatment since June 2022. Prior to this role, Zheng served as an Advisory Scientist and R&D manager at Ascend Performance Materials, where expertise included identifying novel applications for specialty chemicals across various industrial sectors and leading proof-of-concept research projects. Zheng’s experience also includes over a decade as a Principal Scientist at Huntsman Corporation, focusing on specialty syntheses for anionic surfactants and new product developments for the semiconductor and alternative energy industries. Earlier career experience includes a position as a Senior R&D Specialist at Albemarle Corporation, where Zheng worked on the synthesis and process improvement of flame retardants. Zheng Chai holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from The University of Texas at Austin.
