Robert L. Albritton of Fort Worth graduated with honors from Texas A&M University receiving a double major in Economics and Marketing in 1971. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Air Force.
In 1978, Mr. Albritton joined Texas American Bank as Senior Vice President. Shortly thereafter he formed his first independent company, Albritton Development Company, which became the holding company for various operating entities, i.e. Mayfair Capitol, a merchant banking company with interest in a number of diversified businesses; Albritton Energy, a company involved in natural gas transmission and processing, as well as oil and gas exploration and production; Albritton Partners, a nationally recognized real estate development company; and in 1988, Mr. Albritton formed Mayfair Investments, LLC, a company in which he is still Chairman and CEO.
In 1994, Mr. Albritton and another individual started Railroad Controls Limited (RCL). Under his leadership RCL became the largest privately owned railroad signaling and communications company in America before its sale in February 2015. Expansion of services to Class I railroads continued with the formation of RCL Wiring, LP in 2005 and RCL Burco, LLC in 2008 of which he is currently Chairman and CEO.
Mr. Albritton has served on numerous boards in both the public and private sector. He remains active in several charitable and community organizations as well. He has also been active with both the United States Golf Association and Southern Golf Association having had the opportunity to qualify for numerous U.S. and British Amateurs.
Mr. Albritton was appointed to the Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott in 2015. He currently serves as Chairman of the Committee on Finance, as a member of the Committee on Academic and Student Affairs, and as a liaison to the Development Foundations of A&M System Members. He has served as a member of the Committee on Audit, the Committee on Buildings and Physical Plant, and as a liaison to the Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets and System Military Training Programs.
