Dawn McMurtrey

Dawn McMurtrey is the Director of Risk Management Services Finance and Member Support Services Officer at the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). Dawn has been with the organization since January 2017. Prior to their current role, they served as the Director of Member Support Services, where they were responsible for setting the vision for a team of 19 employees and overseeing the coordination of claims reporting function.

Under their leadership, the organization successfully launched a new department consisting of a contact center as a shared service for the area. This team is responsible for handling all incoming calls to the organization's toll-free number, and they are able to do so thanks to the recruitment and training plan that McMurtrey put in place. In addition to their work with the contact center, McMurtrey also researched, evaluated and implemented software solutions for alpha-iteration of new department, including contact center telephony, reporting, quality monitoring and live chat technologies.

McMurtrey is also a member of leadership team for service area, and they participate in decision-making discussions related to strategic goals and focus areas, new programs and Board-related work.

Dawn McMurtrey attended Cal State Fullerton where they received their Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Dawn is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Dawn McMurtrey reports to James B. Crow, Executive Director. Dawn McMurtrey works with Emily Steele - Director, TASB Human Resources, Hiawatha Franks - Director, Risk Management Services Workers' Compensation Claims Administration, and Steve Fisher - Director, BuyBoard/Cooperative Purchasing.
