Carla Dawson

Chief People Officer at Texas Health Care

Carla Dawson is chief people officer for Texas Health Resources. She is a long-term Texas Health veteran with 15 years of experience growing her career with us. She brings a passion for making Texas Health a great place to work. As chief people officer, she is responsible for all Human Resources functions along with advancing our great culture and preparing our workforce for the future. Carla has demonstrated the impact an individual can make at Texas Health while incorporating diversity of thoughts and ideas along the way.

In her previous role as vice president of Total Health and Total Rewards, Carla Dawson led all aspects of benefits, compensation, leaves of absence, and employee health & safety. She also oversaw HR operations for Texas Health Physicians Group. In addition, she has been instrumental in advancing adoption of our Be Healthy program.

Carla has made many contributions during her tenure at Texas Health including designing and managing competitive compensation rewards and benefits. She also has spearheaded our efforts to improve workplace safety, including creating new policies to protect our care team and designing procedures to improve workplace safety. In addition, under her leadership the employee health programs have been standardized across the system, creating an experience that is more uniform regardless of where you work.

Prior to joining Texas Health in 2005, Carla was a consultant at Hewitt Associates for seven years with Texas Health as one of her clients.

Carla earned a bachelor of arts degree in advertising with honors from Texas Tech University. She holds CBP (Certified Benefit Professional) and CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) certifications from WorldAtWork.

In her free time, Carla enjoys traveling and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She also has volunteered for 20 years for the children’s camp at her church, Fellowship Church in Grapevine.
