Rick McWhorter

SEVP & CFO at Texas Health Care

Rick McWhorter is the executive vice president and chief financial officer for Texas Health Resources. In this role, he provides accounting, financial, risk and affordable health leadership and support. He also oversees investments and treasury services, insurance services, revenue cycle management, real estate services, IT services, as well as supply chain management.

Since joining Texas Health in 1990, McWhorter has provided financial oversight across the system while serving in numerous leadership roles. Most recently, he was the chief financial operating officer, where he implemented the system’s board-approved financial sustainability policy. He also played a significant role in the development of financial processes for the Joint Operating Company hospitals of Southwestern Health Resources, an integrated network that blends the strengths of UT Southwestern Medical Center and Texas Health. Additionally, McWhorter represents the system as a member of the finance committee for Premier AEIX, a professional liability risk retention group with other health systems across the country.

McWhorter earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Texas Wesleyan University and is a licensed certified public accountant in the State of Texas. He is a certified health care financial professional and fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Outside of Texas Health, McWhorter has chaired the health care education committee for the Texas Society of CPAs, served a three-year term on the United Way of Tarrant County board, and is on the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America, Circle 10 Council. He also recently joined the board and audit committee of his alma mater, Texas Wesleyan University.
