Sheila Chhutani

Chair, Physician Leadership Council at Texas Health Care

Sheila Chhutani, M.D., M.B.A., is chair of the Physician Leadership Council for Texas Health Resources. In this role, she leads physicians on the medical staffs of Texas Health hospitals through the challenges and opportunities of the health care environment. She is also a representative on the Physician Leadership Policy Council.

The PLC is composed of physicians on the medical staffs of Texas Health hospitals as well as other clinical leaders. The group represents their colleagues at the system level and works together to help shape the future of healthcare delivery in North Texas.

Chhutani is an obstetrician/gynecologist on the medical staff at Texas Health Dallas and Texas Health Plano. She also holds a master's in business administration from the University of Texas, Dallas. In addition, she participated in the first cohort for Physicians Lead! when it started at Texas Health.

In January 2020, Chhutani took on her first leadership role, becoming the president of the medical staff at Texas Health Dallas. Soon after, the COVID-19 pandemic struck.

A Chicago native, Chhutani has been married to her husband, Jesse Jackson, for nine years and has two stepchildren. Her 17-year-old stepson attends high school in Frisco and plays football and her 25-year-old stepdaughter lives in North Carolina and is working on a master's in psychology.

Chhutani is also enrolled at Texas A&M University, working on a master's in jurisprudence.
