Steve Groothuis

Steve Groothuis serves as the Director of Special Projects at the Texas Institute for Electronics, focusing on wafer-level assembly and advanced packaging solutions. With extensive experience as a Teaching Consultant at Semitracks Inc., Steve has delivered courses internationally in package design and MEMS technology since 2003. Previous roles include Technical Fellow and Senior Technologist at Ayar Labs, overseeing IP management and advanced optical I/O solutions, and Operations Manager at Plexus Corp., managing P&L metrics. Steve held significant positions in wafer-level assembly engineering at Intel and chief technology officer at Samtec Inc., where Steve led innovations in semiconductor packaging. Education includes a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from The University of Texas at Dallas and Michigan State University, respectively.
