Fernando Ortiz Jr.

Fernando Ortiz Jr. serves as the Managing Editor at Texas Public Radio since December 2017, overseeing editorial operations and contributing to the organization's recent national Murrow Awards recognition. Ortiz has extensive experience in academia, having taught history courses at San Antonio College, Texas A&M University-San Antonio, The University of Texas at San Antonio, and Northwest Vista College. Additionally, Ortiz has held various editorial roles, including Senior Editor at the San Antonio Express-News and Senior Editor at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, where extensive editing and management of news coverage were key responsibilities. Ortiz's educational credentials include a Master of Arts in History from The University of Texas at San Antonio and a Bachelor of Arts in History from The University of Texas at Austin.
