Cindy Royal

Cindy Royal is a Professor and Director of the Media Innovation Lab at Texas State University, where teaching responsibilities include Web Design and Publishing, Coding for Communicators, and other courses in communication and technology. Royal launched the Digital Media Innovation program and served as a Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University, focusing on the development of CodeActually.com, a platform aimed at teaching journalists coding skills. Previous academic roles include Assistant Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University and Assistant Instructor at The University of Texas at Austin. Royal has also held editorial and management positions in the media and technology sectors, including News Editor at Texas Music Magazine, Product Manager at Compaq, and Program Manager at NCR.
