Senior UX Researcher at TextNow

CJ Montalbano, M.HCI has a strong background in UX research with experience in various industries. They are currently working as a UX Researcher at TextNow, where they conduct end-to-end mixed methods UX research to generate actionable insights for product design and development. They prioritize research projects, adapt research methods to fit business goals, and collaborate with product teams to ensure efficient prioritization and integration of research findings into the product development process. CJ Montalbano has also led a Persona project, mentored associate researchers, and successfully pitched and integrated a qualitative data tagging tool.

Prior to TextNow, CJ Montalbano worked as a UX Researcher at Class, where they established a standardized UX process, conducted user research studies using various methods, and collaborated with designers to create high-fidelity design recommendations. They also led a revamp of UX copywriting for notifications and toasts.

Before Class, CJ Montalbano gained experience as a UX Researcher at Quantum Improvements Consulting, where they supported the full cycle of user experience research including study design, preparation, moderation, analysis, and reporting. They also performed usability testing and evaluations for software.

CJ Montalbano's earlier experience includes working as a Human Factors Researcher/Engineering Tech at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety/Highway Loss Data Institute. In this role, they collaborated with senior researchers, collected and analyzed data from field studies, and communicated findings to manufacturers. They also reviewed and summarized research on human factors.

CJ Montalbano started their career as a Research Intern at Virginia Commonwealth University.

CJ Montalbano, M.HCI completed their Master's degree in Human Computer Interaction at Iowa State University from 2018 to 2020, achieving a GPA of 4.0. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from Randolph-Macon College between 2013 and 2017, with a GPA of 3.7.

In addition to their academic qualifications, CJ Montalbano has obtained several certifications. They completed the Creative Accessibility Fundamentals course at eSSENTIAL Accessibility in November 2021. In January 2017, they obtained the Good Clinical Practice (GCP) ICH certification from the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative. In July 2020, they obtained the Revised Common Rule certification, and in June 2020, they acquired the Social and Behavioral certification, both from the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative. Lastly, in May 2016, they obtained the Biomedical Research certification, also from the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative.
