Alan Esslemont has extensive experience in the media and education sectors, currently serving as a retired Director General at TG4 since October 2016. Alan's leadership roles include Non Executive Director positions at Galway Culture Company and CREW, as well as Chair of the Celtic Media Festival. Previously, Alan held key positions with MG ALBA/BBC ALBA as Head of Content and at TG4 as Director of Television. Alan's early career involved various roles in production at Telegael and teaching languages at Atlantic Technological University and the University of Galway. Alan holds a Master of Arts in French Language and Literature from The University of Edinburgh, a Doctorate of Literature honoris causa from University of Galway, and an MBA from The Open University.
