Assistant Chief Constable, South East Regional lead for Counter Terrorism & Organized Crime at Thames Valley Police

Peter O’Doherty joined Thames Valley Police in July 2019 as Assistant Chief Constable - Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime. The regional command covers the police force areas of Thames Valley, Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Kent. Peter is part of the Chief Constable's Management Team and also assumes gold commander responsibilities for Thames Valley Police.

Peter joined the region from City of London Police where he started his career. He spent a number of years as a detective working across volume, major and specialist crime. Pete went on to specialize in cyber and economic crime, and was later in his service seconded into the Metropolitan Police Service as the as Head of Uniformed Operations at the London Borough of Newham.

In 2017 Peter returned to the City of London Police as Detective Chief Superintendent, Head of Crime and Counter Terrorism, and then went on to lead the City of London Police’s Economic Crime Directorate that acts as the national lead for fraud on behalf of UK policing. In this role Pete worked with government to further the UK policing response to cyber and economic crime, and helped to build economic crime capabilities across local, regional, national and international policing.
