Deputy Director of Operations: Seabed Systems Group at ThayerMahan

Welles Sakmar has a diverse work experience history. Starting in 2009, they worked as a Sailing Instructor at the Hamburg Cove Yacht Club for three summers, teaching beginner students and performing repairs on boats and docks. In 2012, they worked as a Sailing Instructor at the Pine Orchard Yacht Club, instructing both advanced and beginner students, managing and maintaining sailboats and motorboats, and participating in regattas. From 2013 to 2014, they worked as a Summer Intern at Electric Boat, where they conducted non-linear Finite Element Analysis on submarine structures and contributed to process improvement. In 2015, they joined the same company as a Mechanical Engineer, working until 2019. At Electric Boat, they gained experience in mechanical engineering. Finally, in 2019, they joined ThayerMahan, Inc. as a Project Engineer, supporting various projects such as warehouse infrastructure, operational deployment, and platform development. In December 2020, they were promoted to Deputy Director of Operations within the Seabed Systems Group.

Welles Sakmar completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University, which spanned from 2011 to 2015. Later on, Sakmar pursued a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, attending from 2016 to 2018.
