Max Tuttman

Vice President at The Ad Hoc Group

Max Tuttman is a Principal at The Ad Hoc Group. Prior to this role, Max served as a Technology-to-Market Advisor at the Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) where he helped prepare innovative energy technologies for transition from the lab to the market. His primary areas of focus were energy storage for both the grid and transportation, as well as carbon capture and carbon dioxide removal.

Prior to joining ARPA-E, Max spent over a decade working in energy and cleantech, starting his career at the third generation biofuels startup Joule Unlimited, before moving into the utility enterprise software space as a Product Manager at PowerAdvocate. Max also advised commercial and institutional clients on large-scale renewable energy procurements as a Senior Associate at CustomerFirst Renewables.

Max earned his MBA and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and holds an Sc.B. in Mechanical Engineering from Brown University.
