James Poylio

James Poylio is a highly experienced communications hardware systems architect and engineer currently employed at The Aerospace Corporation since September 2022. Prior to this role, Poylio served as a principal telemetry operations engineer at Virgin Orbit, leading successful telemetry operations for several flights and coordinating with international partners. As the director of engineering at Mitsubishi Electric US, Poylio established the Space & Sensing Systems division and built customer relationships for satellite components. With a strong background encompassing various roles at Northrop Grumman and TRW, Poylio has expertise in satellite payload systems, propulsion systems, and photonics engineering. Poylio holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Optics from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
