Ricardo Castro

Editor In Chief at The American Ceramic Society

Ricardo Castro has a diverse and extensive work experience in academia and research. Ricardo is currently the Department Chair and Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Lehigh University since April 2023. Ricardo also holds the position of Professor at Lehigh University Materials Science and Engineering starting from January 2023.

In 2022, Ricardo worked as a Visiting Researcher at the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM). Prior to that, they served as the Editor in Chief for the International Journal of Ceramic Engineering and Science at The American Ceramic Society, starting from October 2018.

From June 2018, Ricardo was the Principal Editor Journal of Materials Research at the Materials Research Society. Ricardo has also worked as an Associate Editor at Cerâmica - Journal of the Brazilian Ceramic Society and as an Editor at Elsevier Science, Materials Letters and Nature Scientific Reports.

From 2009 to 2022, Ricardo worked at the University of California, Davis, where they held multiple positions including Full Professor, Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor. At UC Davis, Ricardo conducted groundbreaking research on ceramics nanomaterials and taught materials science courses.

Before joining UC Davis, Ricardo worked as a Professor at Faculdade de Engenharia Industrial from March 2005 to February 2009. Overall, Ricardo Castro's work experience showcases their expertise in materials science and engineering, research, editing, and teaching.

Ricardo Castro earned a Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Sciences from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, from 1997 to 2001. Following this, they pursued further education and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the same institution, completing their studies from 2001 to 2005.
