Senior Vice President Of Knowledge + Practice at The American Institute of Architects

Corey Clayborne, FAIA, MBA, CAE has extensive work experience in the field of architecture and knowledge management. Corey currently serves as the Planning Commission Chair at Albemarle County and as the Senior Vice President of Knowledge + Practice at The American Institute of Architects (AIA). In their role at AIA, Corey is responsible for the strategic direction of facilitating and sharing knowledge within the profession to address societal needs. Prior to this, Corey held the positions of Executive Vice President and CEO at AIA Virginia, where they focused on sustainability in design, and Project Manager and Architect at Wiley|Wilson, where they managed projects, led teams, and secured business revenue. Corey's work experience also includes a summer internship at A+E Collective.

Corey Clayborne earned their Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech in 2004. In 2018, they completed their Master of Business Administration with a focus on Public Administration from Liberty University. Corey also holds additional certifications, including Certified Association Executive (CAE), NCARB Certificate, Licensed Architect in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and LEED Accredited Professional.
