Veronica Merlo

Veronica Merlo is a graduate student fellow in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language at The American University in Cairo, where responsibilities include a teaching assistantship in the Arabic Language Instruction department. Currently serving as a contributing writer for The New Arab, Veronica focuses on culture, language, and society, particularly Mediterranean exchange and identity. As an author with BookaBook, Veronica published the book "Sorprendersi in Egitto". Previous experiences include roles as an Activity Leader at EF International Language Campuses, a Student Fellow in the CASA program at The American University in Cairo, and a EU Aid volunteer in Communication with WeWorld Onlus. Veronica's journalism contributions span multiple organizations, including the German Academic Exchange Service, Beirut Today, and The Center for Arab-West Understanding, emphasizing intercultural dialogue and civil society activism. Veronica holds a Master of Arts in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language from The American University in Cairo and has advanced degrees from Sciences Po in International Security and Political Science, among other academic qualifications.
