Chandrika Bahadur

Chandrika Bahadur currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer at The Antara Foundation since November 2022. Previously, Chandrika was the Chair of the Lancet COVID-19 Commission India Task Force from January 2021 to October 2022. Chandrika's extensive experience includes leadership roles such as Director of the SDG Academy and Director of Education Initiatives at the Sustainable Development Solutions Network from April 2013 to March 2022, and President of the SDSN Association from January 2016 to March 2020. Additional positions held include Senior Consultant at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements and Columbia Global Center Middle East, Advisor to the Chairman at Reliance Industries, and Policy Advisor for UNDP and the UN Millennium Project. Chandrika holds an MPA in International Development from Harvard University, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, and a BA (Honours) in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi.

The Antara Foundation’s mission is to support the public health system deliver solutions at scale, to improve maternal and child health outcomes, by partnering with government and communities. The Antara Foundation was founded by Ashok Alexander based on his experience leading the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in India where he spearhead a program (Avahan) that would stem the growing HIV epidemic in India. Experiences over a decade with the Gates Foundation helped him appreciate the complexity of public health delivery in India and drivers of scale. These crucial insights helped shape the idea of The Antara Foundation.
