Katy Schmid is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in program development and education for individuals with disabilities. Currently serving as the Senior Director of National Program Initiatives at The Arc of the United States since January 2016, Katy has directed national partnerships focused on accessibility, assistive technology, and inclusive employment, among other areas. Previous roles include Director of Education and Technology at The Arc, where Katy managed outreach to over 600 local chapters, and Director of Professional Services at Rethink First, delivering support and professional development to educators across major school districts. Katy's career began as a Teacher in a county-wide Autism program and transitioned through various roles in assistive technology services, underscoring a robust commitment to enhancing educational outcomes for marginalized communities. Katy holds a Master's of Science in Education and Human Services with a focus on Special Education and a Bachelor's in Liberal Studies from Longwood University.
