Richard Dowd

Richard Dowd is an experienced professional in the field of education and community support. Currently serving as the Program Director of Community Participation Supports at The Arc of Butler County since January 2023, Richard previously worked at Lifesteps, Inc. for nearly a decade as a Community Connections Specialist, where responsibilities included collaboration with organizations for supportive employment and volunteer opportunities, as well as vehicle maintenance and safety drills. Prior experience includes serving as a BS/LS Special Education Teacher at The Summit Academy, where Richard developed and implemented IEPs and Positive Behavior Support Plans, and as a Counselor at Abraxas Center for Adolescent Females, where counseling and activity planning were key duties. Richard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education and Teaching from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an Associate’s Degree in Education from the Community College of Allegheny County.
