Jessica Murphy has a diverse range of work experience. Jessica currently holds the position of Director of Communications at The Arc of Essex County since July 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Executive Director of the Lake Hopatcong Foundation for nearly nine years, where they helped launch and manage the nonprofit organization. Jessica also worked as an Editor for Lake Hopatcong News at Camp Six, Inc., writing articles and managing both the website and weekly print edition.

Jessica's career includes experience in journalism as well. Jessica worked as an Associate Editor for New Jersey Monthly Magazine, where they wrote feature articles and edited content. Jessica also worked as a reporter for The Daily Progress & Central Virginia Media Group, covering local news and land-development issues.

In addition, Jessica has held internships at The Pew Charitable Trusts, where they contributed to Stateline.org, and at the Science Museum of Virginia as a Communications Intern.

Jessica Murphy completed their Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management at NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service from 2016 to 2018. Jessica obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and Journalism from the University of Richmond, studying from 2001 to 2005.
