Emily McDermott

Emily McDermott currently serves as the Vice President of External Relations at The Arc Central Chesapeake Region, a position held since September 2024. Prior experience includes roles as Senior Account Director at Abel Communications from July 2021 to August 2024, and various positions at FOVNDRY (formerly Van Eperen) from 2017 to July 2021, including Director and Account Supervisor/Project Manager. Prior to that, Emily worked as a Publicist at Nevins & Associates from 2014 to 2017 and as Communications Manager for The Atlanta Opera from 2012 to 2013, where significant publicity and media relations strategies were developed. Additional experience encompasses community engagement coordination at Young Audiences, Woodruff Arts Center from 2009 to 2012 and account management at William Mills Agency from 2006 to 2009. Emily holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with a focus in Public Relations and a minor in Psychology from Appalachian State University and is a graduate of Notre Dame Preparatory School.
