Paul Beckett

Paul Beckett is an experienced journalist currently serving as the Editor for National Security and Foreign Policy at The Atlantic since October 2025. Prior to this role, Paul worked at Dow Jones from January 2024 to October 2025 as an Assistant Editor, focusing on the case of WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich, who has been unlawfully detained in Russia since March 29, 2023. Paul’s extensive career at The Wall Street Journal lasted from September 1998 to April 2024, during which time Paul held various prominent positions including Washington Bureau Chief, Asia Editor, South Asia Bureau Chief, and London Bureau Chief, along with serving as a reporter specializing in Wall Street and banking. Paul Beckett is a graduate of The University of Edinburgh.
