Timothy McLaughlin is a seasoned journalist currently serving as a contributing writer at The Atlantic since January 2019, with additional contributions to WIRED and The Washington Post. McLaughlin was a Dart Center Fellow at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism from August 2017 to June 2018. Prior experience includes working as a correspondent for Reuters News Agency from May 2015 to August 2017, and as a freelance reporter for Nikkei, Foreign Policy, and the Wall Street Journal from February 2015 to May 2015. McLaughlin held the position of deputy managing editor at Mizzima Media Group from November 2014 to February 2015 and served as a reporter/editor at The Myanmar Times from July 2012 to November 2014. Earlier editorial experience includes working as an editor at UB Post from October 2011 to May 2012. McLaughlin earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Southern California between 2006 and 2009.
