Geoff Setswe

Managing Director: Implementation Research at The Aurum Institute

Geoff Setswe has a diverse work experience spanning several positions and institutions. Geoff has held various roles in the field of research, monitoring, and evaluation, as well as leadership positions. Geoff Setswe started as a Senior Lecturer and Professor of Public Health at the University of Limpopo before moving on to become the Director of the AIDS Research Institute at the University of the Witwatersrand. Geoff then served as a Research Director at the Human Sciences Research Council before taking on the role of Chair for Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation at SANAC. Geoff Setswe also worked at Monash University as a Professor and Head of School and then served as a Deputy/Executive Director at the HSRC. Currently, they are the Managing Director for Implementation Research at The Aurum Institute.

Geoff Setswe pursued their education in a disciplined manner, with an emphasis on public health. From 1996 to 1998, they attended Temple University, where they completed their Master of Public Health (MPH) degree with a focus on Community Health Education. Following this, they enrolled at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University from 1999 to 2004, dedicating five years to obtain their Doctor of Public Health degree in the field of Social Epidemiology. Throughout their education, Setswe demonstrated a commitment to deepening their knowledge and skills in the field of public health.
