Bonolo Mathibela

Bonolo Mathibela, PhD, is an accomplished director and roboticist at Spacetime Consulting, providing software engineering, technical project management, and technical writing services in robotics, automation, and AI since March 2021. Additionally, as Robotics Project & Product Manager for the Autoware Foundation, Bonolo manages a global team of open source contributors and oversees multiple technical working groups. Prior experience includes a role as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at UCL, where Bonolo developed an autonomous wheelchair and machine learning algorithms for robot navigation, and as a Research Scientist at IBM Research, leading projects in intelligent transportation systems and computer vision. Academic credentials include a DPhil in Engineering Science with a focus on Robotics from the University of Oxford and a BSc in Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Cape Town.
