Lauren Abate

Lauren Abate is an experienced English teacher with a robust background in teaching various high school curricula, including 9th Grade English and AP English Language and Composition. Currently at The Beacon School since July 2019, Lauren leads a project-focused curriculum aimed at mastering Common Core Standards. Previously, at Stephen T. Mather Building Arts and Craftsmanship High School and the NYC Department of Education, Lauren taught a diverse range of English classes and emphasized creative thinking and collaborative learning. Prior to teaching, Lauren worked as a freelance journalist and reporter, covering topics like direct marketing and media. Lauren holds a Master's Degree in the Teaching of English from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a BA in English and Sociology from William & Mary.
