Rod Stead has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over four decades. Rod began their career in 1972 as an Auditor at Arthur Andersen before moving on to K-tel as a Financial Controller. In 1980, they joined Alexon Group PLC as a Group Financial Controller. From 1984 to 2005, Rod worked as a Management Consultant specializing in corporate recoveries and difficult projects, including high-profile entrepreneurs.
In 2006, Rod became the Chief Financial Officer at PTS Consulting Group Ltd, where they played a pivotal role in growing the company's revenue by establishing a global network of offices. Rod implemented financial controls and systems appropriate for an entrepreneurial business and secured growth capital for expansion.
Rod continued their CFO role at PTS Consulting Group Limited in 2014. In this position, they established a centralized legal, compliance, and risk management function. Rod prioritized growth opportunities based on risk and return on capital employed, and developed a new asset-light business model.
In 2021, Rod joined The Big Exchange as the Chief Financial Officer, and in 2022, they became the Chief Financial Officer at The Big Issue.
Rod Stead attended Leeds Grammar School from 1962 to 1972. Following their completion of high school, they went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics & Business Studies at The University of Sheffield from 1972 to 1975.
