The Bowery Mission is a Christian, faith-based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. The Bowery Mission meets essential needs and creates transformative communities with men, women, children, and families in New York so that we can together overcome homelessness and poverty and flourish.
As a member of the Choose Help team, the Community Life Associate works collaboratively to create a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed environment that fosters healthy relationships with God and others.
Specific Responsibilities but are not limited to:
Welcoming and orienting guests and residents while modeling and coaching independent living skills.
Promoting healthy communication, overseeing resident program schedules.
Ensuring compliance with organization health and safety protocols.
Conducting hourly rounds and scheduled fire drills as necessary.
Submitting required reports in a timely manner, and working collaboratively with other organization departments to support program operations.
Schedule:
Sunday and Monday 7:00a – 3:30p
Thursday, Friday, Saturday 11:30a – 8p
Tuesday/Wednesday off
Qualifications and Education:
Embrace's the organization’s Statement of Faith
2-3 years relevant experience, with demonstrated strong relational skills
High School diploma, GED or higher
Strong conflict resolution skills
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Computer & email proficiency
Preferred:
Certified in Mental Health First Aid
Certified in Non-violent Crisis Intervention
Motivational Interviewing
Trauma-informed Care
Certified in First Aid/CPR, F-80 Fire Safety
Prefer Associate degree in relevant area
Naloxone Training
Salary: $19.23 per hour
