Melanie Karpinski joined The Bradley Center in 2014 as the Assistant Director of Education, and she was promoted to Director of Education/Principal in 2018. Under her leadership, Bradley’s education department grew significantly to serve a larger population of children and offer more diverse programming for the students’ ever-changing needs. In 2021, she became the Director of The Bradley Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility.
Melanie began her career in 2000 in the social services field, in the positions of QMRP/Caseworker and House Manager Aide at Allegheny Valley Schools. In 2008 she entered the education field as a Special Education Teacher at Career Connections Charter High School (CCCHS) in Lawrenceville. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she served as the Instructional Team Leader for the Special Education Department and was a member of the Professional Development Committee. After receiving her supervision certification in 2013, Melanie became the Director of Special Education/Transition Coordinator for CCCHS.
Melanie holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Slippery Rock University and a Master of Education in Mental and Physical Disabilities from the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, she has a Pennsylvania teaching certificate in Elementary and Special Education, a Pennsylvania Supervisor of Special Education certificate, and a Pennsylvania K-12 Principal certificate.
