William P. Zarakas

William P. Zarakas is the Principal at The Brattle Group. William has over 25 years of experience in the economic and financial analysis of electric utility regulation, planning, and operations.

Mr. Zarakas began their career as an Economist with the New York Power Authority (NYPA), where they worked on regulatory, rate, financial and load forecasting analyses for NYPA's 51 electric municipal and cooperative customers. William also conducted analysis and developed economic models with regards to industrial customers and economic development initiatives.

In 1997, Mr. Zarakas joined PHB Hagler Bailly as Senior Vice President. PHB Hagler Bailly was an economic and management consulting firm resulting from the merger of Hagler Bailly with Putnam, Hayes & Bartlett (PHB), Theodore Barry & Associates (TB&A) and other consulting firms in the infrastructure and power sectors. At PHB Hagler Bailly, Mr. Zarakas led projects concerning the economics and finance of major capital investment programs concerning broadband and new ventures for electric utilities in the U.S., Europe, Australia and Hong Kong. William also provided expert reports and testimony concerning performance based regulation, avoided costs and the economic impacts of mergers of energy companies for review by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and state regulator agencies.

Mr. Zarakas has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Tufts University and a Master of Science in Economics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

William P. Zarakas earned a Master of Arts in Economics from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from SUNY Oneonta.

William P. Zarakas reports to Michael I. Cragg, Principal & Chairman. They work with Matthew Aharonian - Principal, Laurence Freed - Principal, and Marti P. Murray - Principal.
