Maya Simpson is a Manager in Bridgespan’s San Francisco office. Since joining in 2019, her work has focused on nonprofit strategic planning and organizational operating models. Select projects include an operating model and leadership team redesign for a national education organization, an operating model assessment and set of recommendations for a research organization, and a strategic and implementation planning for multiple national nonprofits. Maya has also coached more than 15 nonprofit leadership teams via Bridgespan’s two-year consulting and capacity building program, Leading for Impact®, in Chicago and Los Angeles.
Before Bridgespan, Maya spent over nine years working in the nonprofit sector, mainly in education organizations and schools serving K-12 students. Her work included direct program delivery, program management and oversight, and curriculum development. Most recently, she spent lead talent development for College Track, a national education nonprofit based in Oakland, CA. This work included rolling out multi-year talent initiatives in performance management; organization design and career pathways; employee experience and organizational culture; diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI); and training and development.
Maya holds a BA in History from Pomona College and an MA in Sociology and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She lives with her husband and dog in the Bay Area, where she was born and raised.
