Calum MacRae is a distinguished academic and physician-scientist, serving as a Professor at Harvard Medical School since July 2002 and holding multiple leadership roles at Brigham and Women's Hospital, including Vice Chair for Scientific Innovation and Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine. MacRae is also the Director of One Brave Idea and Principal Investigator for the Apple Heart and Movement Study. Additional contributions include being a Co-Founder of Atman Health and a Principal Faculty Member at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute. MacRae holds an associate membership at the Broad Institute and previously served as an advisor for gWell. With a strong foundation in cardiology and genetics, MacRae has held significant positions at Massachusetts General Hospital and completed internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Educationally, MacRae earned an MB, ChB in Medicine and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Experimental Physiology from The University of Edinburgh, along with a PhD in Human Molecular Genetics from the University of London.
