Katie Fillipon

Deputy Chief Nursing Officer at The Brigham And Women's Hospital, Inc.

Katie Fillipon, MS, RN, OCN, FNP-BC, is deputy chief nursing officer and associate chief nursing officer for Oncology and Medicine.

As deputy chief nursing officer, Fillipon oversees daily operations for the Department of Nursing. She works closely with Maddy Pearson, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, senior vice president of Clinical Services and chief nursing officer, and other senior leaders on strategic planning for the development of innovative, high-quality clinical programs.

She also partners with associate chief medical officers, administrators, medical directors, clinicians, and staff to advance operations related to the delivery of high-quality care throughout Brigham, including co-leading the Inpatient and Emergency Committee.

Fillipon has worked at Brigham for her entire career, beginning as a student on Tower 5B Oncology. She previously worked as a nursing director and nurse educator for Oncology before becoming an associate chief nurse for Oncology and Medicine.

Her leadership was essential to the successful opening of two new oncology units at Brigham, as well as the development of the CAR T-cell therapy program within oncology. She led the implementation of discharge rounds in medicine intermediate care units to improve patient throughput, as well as efforts to optimize resource utilization within divisions.

Fillipon has contributed to numerous department-wide initiatives, including expanding the shared governance model, developing a division-based education model and increasing professional certifications, and reducing vacancies.

She is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing.
