Desseray M. Wright

Family Defense Practice Policy Advocate at The Bronx Defenders

Desseray Wright (she/her/hers) is a parent who's been directly affected by the family regulation system and has since dedicated herself to abolishing it. She graduated from Hostos Community College at the top of her class earning her Associate's in Criminal Justice. Before joining The Bronx Defenders, she earned a fellowship with the National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls, where she counseled woman who have lost their children to violence. She also interned with the Movement for Family Power where she advocated against the Family Regulation System. Desseray has participated in lobby days advocating for the SCR Bill which became law in 2020 as well as Gun Violence Awareness rallies in the Bronx. She has also spoken on panels fighting against the family regulation system. Desseray was born and raised in The Bronx and is excited to continue working with her community.
