Alfred Fraijo Jr. is a partner in Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP’s Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental practice in the firm’s Los Angeles and San Francisco offices. He is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Alfred is recognized state-wide as a leader in real estate and land use law. He was recognized by the Daily Journal in 2020 as among the Top 100 Lawyers in California. Alfred handles cutting edge transactions for public, private and nonprofit developers and other institutions. He has significant experience obtaining and negotiating public financing and land use entitlements for complex healthcare and educational campuses and mixed-use development projects throughout California. He is a frequent speaker and writer on emerging trends in state and federal land use and environmental law as well as on environmental justice issues and equity considerations in land use policy and development. He has been on the list of Super Lawyers in Real Estate for Southern and Northern California every year since 2013. In 2012, he was recognized by the California Legislature as a change agent and for dedicating his career to building community and economic opportunities.

Alfred serves on numerous real estate associations and organizations focused on affordable housing, urban redevelopment and advancing social justice. Among his notable community service work, Alfred is founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Inclusive Action for the City, Inc., a multi-disciplinary nonprofit organization advocating for equitable land use and sustainable development policies state-wide. Alfred also is the co-founder and President of the Board of the Friends of the Hollywood Freeway Central Park, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of a 40-acre “cap” park over the 101 Freeway in Hollywood, and Member of the Board of the Los Angeles LGBT Center. The Center is the largest organization in the world providing health and other services to LGBT people.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of California, the State Bar of Washington, D.C., the San Francisco Bar Association, the Los Angeles Bar Association, and the Mexican American Bar Association. Alfred was a commissioner to the State Bar of California on issues of diversity and inclusion.
