The California Copyright Conference

The California Copyright Conference was established in 1953 for the discussion of copyright-related areas pertaining to music and entertainment. There were seven founding members. The CCC expanded during the next two years, taking its present form in 1955 under the presidency of famed songwriter Harold Spina. Today, the scope of the CCC has broadened to cover all matters pertaining to music industry issues. The organization has grown to over 300 members from all areas of the music and entertainment industry, including publishers, songwriters/composers, attorneys, music supervisors, representatives from trade publications, performing rights societies, music libraries, motion pictures, television, multimedia, Internet, and record companies. The California Copyright conference hosts dinner panels, webinars, and mixers aimed at connecting and educating music industry professionals. Our season runs from September to May, with our annual holiday party taking the place of the December meeting. The monthly meetings feature a guest speaker or panel on a broad range of subjects of interest to the members, as well as a “Legal Update” on current litigation and legislation that affects our industry. In addition, we hold joint meetings with other organizations such as The Society of Composers & Lyricists, the Production Music Association, the Guild of Music Supervisors, ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC. The general membership of the CCC elects the Officers and Board of Directors of the organization. Members are encouraged to participate as fully as possible in all meetings and activities of the organization. Panel fees, event fees and membership fees may be tax deductible as business expenses as permitted by law. MCLE credit is available for attorneys. The CCC is a non-profit corporation. We invite you to join the members of the California Copyright Conference as we continue to serve the music and entertainment industry by promoting dialogue about the issues of concern to all of us.
