Alan Donaldson has extensive experience in education, currently serving as the 5th Grade Dean and an instructor for various grades at The Cathedral School of St. John the Divine since August 2000. Roles have included teaching 8th Grade English, Social Studies, 6th/8th Grade Social Studies, and early childhood education, as well as coaching middle school basketball and cross country. Donaldson has previously held positions such as the Lower School Dean at The Cathedral School and has contributed to hiring and mentoring associate teachers. Educated at Middlebury College with a B.A. in Chinese Language and English Literature and Hunter College with a Master of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Donaldson has also taught Mandarin Chinese across different grade levels.
