Jarvis Johnson has a diverse work experience, starting as a Data Entry Clerk at The Chicago Lighthouse for People Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired in 2007. In this role, they provided support for medium-sized Windows Server 2003 and 2008 networks, as well as supported Windows XP and Windows 7 clients. Jarvis created user accounts, security groups, assigned permissions, and added client workstations to the network.

Jarvis Johnson's education history includes several institutions and areas of study. In 1977, they began their primary education at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School, where they completed their studies in 1986. Following this, Jarvis attended Paul Robeson High School from 1986 to 1990. In 1992, they enrolled at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and studied there until 1993. Later, Jarvis attended Westside Technical Institute, where they obtained a Certificate in Business Office Technology, graduating in 2001. In 2013, they briefly attended CITC Training Center, focusing on Information Technology.

In addition, The Lighthouse has developed several Social Enterprise businesses in the areas of Customer Service, Digital Accessibility Consulting, Manufacturing and Shipping that serve the dual purpose of providing our clients with accessible, inclusive jobs and generating revenue to support our clinical and social service programs.
