The Chicago Maroon
Eric Fang has extensive experience in journalism and photography, with their most recent position being News Editor & Head Photo Editor at The Chicago Maroon since August 2023. Prior to this, they held various roles at The Chicago Maroon, starting as a News Reporter in September 2021 and progressing to Senior Reporter & Photographer and Deputy News Editor & Staff Photographer. Eric also gained experience in the finance industry as a Natural Resources Analyst at The Blue Chips Investment Club and as a Wholesale Origination Intern at Constellation. Additionally, they have held internships in strategy and operations at Worthy Minds LLC and in political research and outreach at the Santa Clara County Democratic Party. In terms of educational experience, Eric served as Editor-in-Chief of The Winged Post and was an intern at the City of San José and The Stanford Daily. Before starting their professional career, Eric volunteered as an English Tutor at Refugee & Immigrant Transitions.
Eric Fang attended The Harker School from 2013 to 2020, where they obtained their High School Diploma. From 2021 to 2025, they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Public Policy at the University of Chicago.
The Chicago Maroon
The Chicago Maroon, the independent student newspaper of The University of Chicago, is a twice-weekly publication that traces its founding to 1892. During autumn, winter, and spring quarters of the academic year, The Maroon publishes every Tuesday and Friday. The paper consists of four sections: News, Viewpoints (opinion), Arts, and Sports. The Maroon prints its quarterly news magazine, Grey City, before every reading period. In the late summer, it publishes its annual orientation Issue (O-Issue) for entering first-year students, including sections on the university and the city of Chicago.
