Garland Stansell

Garland Stansell, MPPM, APR has a wealth of experience in the fields of communication and public relations. Garland began their career as the Chief Communication Officer at Children's of Alabama in 1994 and continues to hold this role. In 2015, they joined the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) where they served on the National Board of Directors from 2015 to 2021. Additionally, they were the 2020 PRSA National Chair. Stansell also has experience as a member of the JMC Advisory Committee at Samford University from 2009 to 2017.

Garland Stansell earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications and Public Relations with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 1983 to 1986. Garland then pursued further education and obtained a Masters in Public and Private Management (MPPM) with a focus on Executive Management and Leadership from Birmingham-Southern College from 2001 to 2003. In 2010, they obtained the APR (Accredited in Public Relations) certification from the PRSA Universal Accreditation Board.
